After weeks of preparation, our first vineyard block is ready for planting. The delivery of our posts was delayed due to COVID, and now the weather isn’t cooperating. We’re stuck in a wet spell that just won’t quit
Everything is ready. The line posts and vine stakes are set. There’s no rush for end posts because we will not need trellis wires until next season.
The soil here is moderately well-draining, but we need a dry spell. The forecast is calling for flash flooding, so for now we are holding-off having the vines shipped. Summer is flying by and we are planting late. The grapevine nursery says we can get away with it because they are potted vine, but I’m beginning to think this is pure folly.
We will see.
